She is the only instructor in Pittsburgh certified by the Bellydance Superstar Ansuya, and plans to travel and study further with Ansuya, earning multiple certifications. Amethyst has also taken workshops and lessons of a variety of styles, from popular instructors Karim Nagi/Turbo Tabla (Egyptian style), Deniz of Caravan Workshops (Lebanese, Turkish, Greek, Egyptian styles), Rachel Kay Brookmire of Sahara Dance (Washington, DC)(Classical Egyptian style), Elizabeth "Artemis" Mourat (Silver Spring, MD) (Turkish styles) and Heather Stants (modern fusion style). Amethyst will soon release a performance DVD "ElectroBelly", with friends Shanti and Astarte. Amethyst currently performs and teaches with her new dance partner Patrice. Amethyst graduated as a Massage Therapist from the Western School of Health and Business. Part of her motivation for becoming a Massage Therapist was to learn about the body and safe movement, in order to provide students with quality dance education and proper/safe technique. Amethyst organizes both professional and student shows multiple times per year, providing both professional and student dancers with appropriate opportunities and advancement. She has organized such events as "Pittsburgh's first-2 Turbo Tabla Parties", "Workshop and Show weekend with Deniz", "Elements" series, "ElectroBelly" series, "Bellydancers Love Animals" series and more.
